Speaker Dr. Jim Murphy of Rutgers University will talk about "Summer Stresses in 2010: Biotic and Abiotic."

Speaker Adam Moeller of the USGA will talk about "Golf Turf Management Practices to Reduce Plant Stress and Maximize Recovery."

Dinner will follow the roundtables...Submit questions with your reservation or complete a card at the meeting. All questions on any turf topic will be answered.

Optional skill contests follow the roundtable.  Ryan Oliver will be defending his Long Drive win, and winner keeps the trophy for a year.  Chipping and Putting contests also.

As we approach the beginning of the GCSANJ monthly meeting schedule, it also means that it is time to register for one of the best events of the year. It is time to grab a partner or sign up as a single who has an official handicap (and who hopefully can play to that handicap [sandbaggers included]). Once you have done that, you can register for “The Bob Leslie Cup” or “The Terry Stanley Cup”.

This event honors the memory of Bob Leslie and Terry Stanley. Bob and Terry were GCSANJ members who really enjoyed life their family, their job and golf. We honor these men after their untimely deaths with a handicapped match play and straight up match play. We hope you join us to honor their lives.

This event allows each team to meet fellow members on the field of battle but it also gives them the chance to have lots of fun while, in many cases, getting to know some members that they have never met.  Sign Up Closed.

Over the past few months I have received many inquiries regarding volunteer help for the 2010 Barclays being contested at The Ridgewood Country Club from August 23-29, 2010.

Once again, brought to you by the PGA Tour and the Hospitality Sponsors, a hot breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as shirts, hats and a thank you gift will be provided for all volunteers.

If you are interested in helping, please download volunteer sign-up form and indicate what days and times you would be available to volunteer.  While we will take any help we can get in the evenings, we are most in need of morning volunteers, Monday through Sunday.  Any time you could donate would be greatly appreciated.

We will begin our mornings at 4:30 A.M.  Although the times have not been determined as of yet, the PM schedule will begin in the late afternoon.
