Since our founding in 1901, Canoe Brook Country Club has been a private, family-oriented country club committed to providing our Members and their guests the very best in golf, dining, sports, and social engagement. We are proud to be a Platinum Club of America with facilities that include 36-holes of golf, 7 Har-Tru tennis courts, 6 paddle tennis courts, a swimming pool, a fitness center, overnight guest rooms, and a recently renovated clubhouse. Canoe Brook is located just 25 miles west of New York City. Great architects such as Walter Travis and Robert Trent Jones Sr. have had their influence on the design of the courses. Since 1991 Rees Jones has made a remarkable impact on the evolution of our two courses. The Club is currently undergoing a maintenance facility expansion and continues to work on long-range plans to improve both courses. In addition to Member events, Canoe Brook has hosted many professional and amateur tournaments including US Open Sectional Qualifiers, US Women’s Amateur, the Met Open, and the NJ State Amateur.
The right candidate will be able to succeed in our fast-paced, team atmosphere. The Assistant Superintendent will work closely on all aspects of turf maintenance with the Superintendent and Director of Grounds. The Canoe Brook grounds department strives to exceed our members’ expectation, continue to look for ways to improve and help the assistant superintendent develop in the turf industry.
Duties include but are not limited to:
• Maintenance of all areas of golf courses
• Manage large crews
• Chemical/fertilizer scheduling and applications
• Irrigation, drainage, and utilizing the most up to date maintenance practices
• 2 or 4-year turfgrass degree
• Experience providing firm and fast playing conditions
• NJ pesticide license or the ability to obtain one
• Ability to work well with others and the desire to succeed.
Salary: DOE highly competitive
