Francis A. Byrne Golf Course is one of three courses owned and operated by the Essex County Parks and Recreation Golf Division. Francis A. Byrne Golf Course was built in 1927, originally known as Essex County Country Club West, with routing by legendary architect Seth Reynor and engineering by the esteemed Charles Banks.

 

DUTIES:

The head assistant will be involved in all aspects of Golf Course Maintenance. Duties will include Pesticide and Fertilizer applications, Irrigation system operation and hand watering when necessary, Course Set Up, Crew Management, Small Project Oversight, and operation of all turf maintenance equipment. Maintenance and adjusting the cut of reel mowers will also be a responsibility. All overtime worked will be compensated for.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Francis Byrne Golf Course is seeking a Head Assistant who will assume all responsibilities of the Superintendent in his absence. We are seeking a team player who is willing to perform any task assigned, big or small. Employee will be required to help out with pesticide applications and aeration at our other two county courses. QUALIFICATIONS: Two or Four year degree in Turfgrass Management Program or related field. Three years experience working on a golf course. Recent graduates who have done multiple internships will also be considered for the position. NJ Pesticide Applicators License.

SALARY & BENEFITS:

$45k - $50k (depending on experience) Annually with the opportunity to make an additional $10k in overtime. Within 6 years of employment you could be making $75k - $80k with overtime.
