Knickerbocker Country Club, Tenafly, New Jersey

188 Knickerbocker Rd, Tenafly, NJ 07670

Job Description:

Knickerbocker Country Club is an 18 hole private country club located in Tenafly, New Jersey, 15 minutes from New York City.  It was designed by Donald Ross in 1914 with subsequent changes by Herbert Strong in 1927 and has been consistently ranked in the Top 200 Classic Courses.  The club is embarking on a master plan with golf course architect Jaeger Kovich that will address all aspects of this great layout by bringing back some of the original architectural features that existed in the past.  The greens are a mix of poa/bentgrass and with the tees and fairways being mostly bentgrass. We are implementing an aggressive agronomic plan to improve plant health and bring championship conditions to the membership.  We will be installing internal greens drainage to the greens over the next several seasons as well as many in-house fairway drainage projects.  We are also embarking on an aggressive tree management plan to improve turf conditions and open the property to its original intended design.  We are looking to add an Assistant Superintendent to work alongside an experienced Superintendent and management team.

The Assistant Superintendent will be responsible for, but not limited to, scheduling and motivating a staff of approximately 17 employees, all forms of water management, chemical and fertilizer applications, construction project planning and implementation, golf course setup, payroll responsibilities, and planning of our IPM program.

The Assistant Superintendent will be equipped with the tools necessary to become a golf course superintendent if so desired.
