GOLF COURSE SUPERINTENDENT

Manufacturers’ Golf & Country Club is seeking a progressive and innovative leader to attract and lead a motivated grounds staff. He/She should take special pride in delivering exceptional playing conditions for members and guests by providing extraordinary turf conditioning, golf course grounds presentation, and customer service. The Golf Course Superintendent will be responsible for managing the daily operations of the entire agronomy team at Manufacturers’ Golf & Country Club with a primary concentration on organizing, directing, and overseeing all facets of the department including, but not limited to staffing, training, safety protocol, chemical/fertilizer plans, working relationships across departments, interaction with club members, interaction with local and national media, and financial controls for the department. The Golf Course Superintendent will be a courageous leader who is able to combine "big picture" thinking with producing every day, consistent high quality results. This position will report directly to the General Manager.

Possesses high golf IQ and steward of the game of golf
Passion for preserving and enhancing classic golf courses
Responsible for all phases of Golf Maintenance and Agronomic operations, cost control, and personnel
Works closely with, advises, and coordinates with the General Manager, and Head Golf Professional on any issues related to golf course maintenance
Directs and participates in the construction and maintenance of the grounds
Creative turf manager, who is highly skilled producing consistent, exceptional turf conditions in challenging environments
Provides the right balance of playability, presentation and aesthetics for ALL skill levels and member demographics
Administers and enforces all Club rules, regulations and policies for staff
Develops strong relations with General Manager. Golf Professional, department heads, respective committees and members
Must be able to work independently and be a self-starting problem solver
To be considered for the position, the following qualifications are desired:
Certified Class – GCSAA Class-A member with a minimum of 5 to 10 years’ experience as a Golf Course Superintendent at a resort or private club
College Degree – Agronomy/Turfgrass Management. BA/BS Undergraduate Degree preferred
Minimum of 5 years of golf course superintendent experience at a high-quality facility required
Expertise in producing high quality soil push up, creeping bentgrass/poa annua greens; perennial ryegrass fairways, low-mow bluegrass tees, and tall fescue/ryegrass roughs
History implementing progressive management strategies to combat Mid-Atlantic environmental challenges
Major or significant championship experience is preferred
Construction, renovation, and grow-in experience preferred
Valid Driver’s License
Excellent verbal and written skills required.
Special Technical & Administrative Knowledge – Ability to interpret diagnostic data (e.g. Soil tests, water tests, nematode assays, etc.) Formulate and manage annual budgets.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations - Preferred Certified Golf Course Superintendent and required certified chemical and pest applicator
