Golf Course Superintendent Job Description:

Responsible for the golf course and equipment operations. The responsibilities include turf grass/plant material maintenance programs, property/asset management, personnel management, budget forecasting, member relations, irrigation, fertilizer/pesticide applications and recording of such, and compliance with safety/regulatory issues. The Golf Course Superintendent works to create an environment where the staff is involved and enthusiastic, with open communications and respect for members, guests, and the property.

The duties of the Course Superintendent shall include but not limited to the following:

  • Supervise and direct maintenance operations, care, and improvement of the golf course.

  • Work closely with, advise, and coordinate with the Greens Chairman and Head Golf Professional on golf course maintenance.

  • Recruit, interview, hire, and supervise course maintenance employees with the guidance of the board of governors, and in accordance with applicable state and federal laws.

  • Supervises and participates in the application and recording of chemicals (fertilizers and pesticides) in compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations.

  • Develop, implement, and review the budget in accordance with the board of governors.

  • Recommend and supervise the purchase, lease, installation, and maintenance of equipment and improvements in a timely manner

  • Ability to diagnose and repair irrigation problems lay out irrigation patterns and drainage patterns and manages a water usage tracking plan Directs and assists the staff on the planting of new vegetation, the replacement, spraying, pruning, and trimming of trees and shrubs.

  • Microsoft Office skills preferred for weekly/monthly reporting related to basic operations (e.g., chemical applications and maintenance operations)

  • 2-4 years of experience as a Golf Superintendent or Assistant

  • Degree or certificate in Turf Grass Management

  • Must possess appropriate licensing for chemical and pesticide application

  • Certification by the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America preferred

  • Must have a valid Driver’s License
