The Passaic County Parks and Recreation Department
The Passaic County Parks and Recreation Department is seeking a full-time horticulturalist to join our team.
The Parks and Recreation Department oversees and maintains more than 16,000 acres of open space and recreational facilities including two golf courses and all county owned grounds.
The horticulturalist, under direction, will plan, design, and install annual and perennial landscape beds, perform regular maintenance to all beds, and will train/supervise subordinate personnel in the proper methods and techniques of planting and maintaining ornamental plantings throughout our park system.
Applicants are required to possess a valid NJ Driver’s License, a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Horticulture, Forestry, Botany, Agriculture, Biological Sciences, or Agronomy, and one (1) year of experience in the cultivation, propagation, care, and handling of flowers, plants, shrubs, ornamental trees, fruits, and vegetables. Two (2) years of experience in the design, planting, and care of ornamental landscape plantings is preferred.
This is a civil service, non-union position with a salary of $50,000 to $60,000. We offer a competitive benefits package including contributory health, dental, and vision insurance, and a state of NJ pension plan.
