Located in Sewell, NJ - The Pitman Golf Course opened in 1927 as a private golf club, it was
originally built by Alexander Findlay. Today, the golf course is a busy public daily fee facility
that has been owned and operated by the County of Gloucester since 1995.
We are searching for a 1st Assistant Superintendent to be part of our leadership team. The
successful candidate must have a positive attitude and a strong work ethic along with a desire to
help shape the direction of this “hometown classic”. This is a civil service position and part of
the County’s unionized workforce offering a competitive salary and excellent benefits package.
The Assistant Superintendent will be involved in all aspects of our Golf Maintenance Operations
including expected to operate all turf maintenance equipment, apply pesticides and fertilizers and
make repairs to the irrigation system as needed. In addition, they may be asked to perform
maintenance on said equipment, manage the crew and oversee small projects throughout the
season. Our current team is a small but dedicated group and the successful candidate will be
entrusted to run the turf maintenance operations when the Head Superintendent is off-site.
Education & Experience Requirements:
Candidates with Two to Four year degree in a Turfgrass Management Program, or related field
with two years of experience at a golf course, is preferred. Recent graduates who have served
multiple internships or those with more experience but less schooling will be considered.
Health, Prescription, Dental, Vision, and Pension are available.
$56,149 with annual contractual increases.
