Spanish Language and Culture for Agriculture and Horticulture Professionals
March 10 to May 4, 2020 | Hybrid In-Person & Online Program | $495
In this hybrid course that combines classroom and online learning, study conversational Spanish and gain a technical vocabulary designed specifically for those who supervise or work closely with an agricultural workforce.
In addition, discuss some important cultural conventions of the Spanish-speaking world that, if not understood, may negatively impact workplace dynamics.
Topics covered include:
Social and professional greetings
Farm tool vocabulary
Giving commands and the culture of commands
Clock time
Calendar dates
Climate Quantities
Expressing likes and dislikes
Health and safety issues
The first and last day of class will meet in person at Rutgers University Martin Hall on the New Brunswick campus. In between there are five online, instructor-facilitated learning modules. Each module will be available for seven days, which gives you the flexibility to complete assignments when it is most convenient for you within that week.

Online self-paced module on Spanish in the field
Week 4:
April 7 - 13
Online self-paced module on time, weather, and more
Week 5:
April 14 - 20
Online self-paced module on communication scenarios
Week 6:
April 21 - 27
Online self-paced module on human resources (health/safety)
Week 7:
April 28 - May 4
In-person class, Rutgers campus, May 4, 2:15 pm-5:15 pm Online self-paced module on using your new language skills
