Golf has been the heart of Trenton Country Club since our founding in 1897. The course at Oaklands, as Trenton Country Club was originally known, came of age during the Gilded Era of golf. Grounded with this solid heritage, the course has stood the test of time. Nearly 125 years later it continues to challenge and delight players of all levels. The 18 Hole Course is a happy confluence of the inherent beauty of the Delaware River basin, rolling terrain with various natural boundaries, and the talented architects who shaped its history. 

The Golf Course Superintendent will be responsible for the successful operation of the golf course maintenance department, clubhouse grounds, pool grounds, and tennis maintenance.  They will also work closely with the Management on capital improvement projects, as well as interaction with the Head Golf Professional by scheduling maintenance practices around member play and outings to maximize efficiency is essential.

REQUIREMENTS    

  • 5 Years in Golf Course Maintenance Management as Assistant or Head Superintendent 

  • Two or Four Year College Turf Degree Required

  • New Jersey Pesticide/Fertilizer Applicators License Required within 60 Days of Hire

  • Bilingual (English – Spanish) Communication Ability Preferred

  • Valid Driver’s License

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manages entire golf course maintenance operation.

  • Provides agronomic direction to maintain the golf course at the highest quality possible at all times.

  • Follows standards for the healthy growth of the golf course grasses, trees, wetlands, and other applicable plant materials.

  • Develops annual pesticide, fertilizer, and cultural practice schedules for the annual turf care management plan.

  • Prepares an annual operating and capital budget and manages these financial goals throughout the year.

  • Experience in forecasting, expense controls, and labor management.

  • Responsible and experienced in hiring, training, and developing all staff.

  • Ensures staff is working within OSHA, club safety, state and federal guidelines for safe working conditions.

  • Advanced knowledge of regulatory requirements and recordkeeping as required by local, state, and federal laws.

  • Oversees and works with department heads and attends regularly scheduled staff meetings. 

  • Works closely with Club’s Golf Committee and Management.

  • Maintains active memberships and networking in appropriate professional organizations.

  • Salary Commensurate with Experience with Range of $90,000 to $120,000
